The Pearl banjo is made completely from high-grade maple. In conjunction with the Clareen Pearl Archtop Tone Ring, this produces a tone that is refined and allows the player to soar to new heights.
The aquatic-themed inlay design, inspired by Clareens local surroundings, makes this banjo immediately recognisable as a Clareen banjo.

It is an excellent tenor banjo with a crisp clear tone. The two piece neck of well selected maple has a contrasting mahogany centre strip for stability and appearance. All the wood is finished in its natural colour as is the resonator and block maple rim.

Neck:
- The high grade maple neck with detailed grain is re-enforced with two carbon fibre truss rods embedded inside. It’s natural colour is allowed to shine through and it is protected with several layers of lacquer
- The Peghead is inlaid with the Model name and a Clareen designed leaping Salmon and a smaller marine inspired inlay. The Rosewood fingerboard, accented with Tortoise Shell binding, is inlaid at the 1st, 3rd,5th, 7th, 10th, 12th,15th, 17th& 19th frets with a Mother of Pearl Aquatic themed feature echoing the peghead.
- The precision crafted Geared Tuners are sourced from Schaller in Germany and are made of brass and then nickel plated topped with White, Perloid buttons.
Resonator:
- High quality maple with detailed grain is used for the resonator of the Pearl banjo. It’s natural grain is allowed to shine through but it is protected with several layers of lacquer. There is a Tortoise Shell, celluloid binding around the edge of the resonator on both edges
Pot:
- Clareen Banjos manufactures all of it’s tone rings by hand in our workshop in Galway, Ireland. The Clareen Archtop tone ring offers a sweet rounded tone
- The 24 individual ‘L’ shaped shoes and Butterfly flanges are made of brass. They are nickel plated and fitted individually inside the rim of the resonator
- Clareen Grooved Tension Band with steel tension hooks which are nickel plated
- We use an excellent quality Waverly Style Tailpiece which is nickel plated. It has 5 “pillars” which can accommodate both ball end and loop end strings
- Brass Nickel Plated Armrest
- We use a smooth white banjo head with the Clareen logo for the Pearl. This can be changed if requested
