Deering Golden Series
In the early 1980's Deering noticed a cultural phenomena that banjo players had to have a prewar banjo or one that looked like it. It almost didn’t matter how good their banjos were if it didn’t look like the prewar.
At first this was discouraging but then they soon realized that the currently made prewar style banjos didn’t come anywhere close to the actual prewar banjos in quality or sound. Deering realized that what the banjo world needed was a prewar style banjo that was truly comparable to the actual prewars, so they set out to do the best job that had ever been done making these classic banjos.

Pre war banjo tone, that holy grail
Early pioneers of the thumb and 2 finger style picking particularly the Earl Scruggs style of picking has been adopted by most players looking for that ‘Scruggs’ sound. The Golden Series will get you nearer to that tone better and quicker than most.
Modern take on an old classic
Modern take on an old classic
The new Deering Rustic Wreath moves slightly away from the maple and mahogany usually associated with the pre war classic woods in favor of walnut. The tone features of walnut combine a bit of both the brightness of maple but the sweetness and mellow tone of mahogany. So if you’re split down the middle with your choices the Rustic Wreath model has you covered.
