Handmade in the UK by luthier Tom Buchanan, this Octave Mandola features a Solid Cedar Top and beautiful Solid Koa Back and Sides. Buchanan octave mandolas are double strung as standard.

Tuning on an octave mandola is similar to a mandolin but an octave lower: GG-DD-AA-EE.

Excellent All Solid Octave Mandola with ornamental soundhole design, rosewood fingerboard,slotted headstock and rear facing geared tuners. Fitted with a stick up bug pickup. Pre-amp recommended to shape and enhance the tone further.

This is the left handed version.

The Mandola, often used in Celtic traditional music, is to the mandolin what the viola is to the violin. The four double courses of strings are usually tuned in fifths to CGDA, a fifth lower than a mandolin, but many other tunings may be used. Our Mandola features authentic Celtic tone and low, comfortable playing action. The cast brass tailpiece is stronger and thicker than sheet metal tailpieces, providing more sustain. This traditionally shaped and finished mandola will complement the sound of any acoustic ensemble.

The extended-range GME-5 is like having a mandolin and a mandola in one instrument. The added low C string allows you to play more complex chord voicings and your solo expeditions can take on more range and complexity. The solid alder body is equipped with a humbucker pickup (for lots of grunt with no feedback), a cast metal bridge with individual string adjustment for height and compensation, volume and tone controls, a multi-layer pickguard and a vintage cream gloss finish. The slim maple neck with integral fretboard has traditional black dot fret markers and is radiused for maximum playing ease. Includes padded gig bag.

A  brilliant sounding Hawaiian Koa octave mandola from the excellent British luthier Thomas Buchanan. Finely appointed 'Flat Top' instrument with solid Hawaiian Koa back and sides and a solid european sitka spruce soundboard. Also features a rosewood headstock faceplate and maple body binding.

A beautiful, unique, handmade deep bodied flat top mandolin straight from talented luthier Joe Vercoe's workshop in Sheffield.

This hand made instrument features a French polished Englemann Spruce Top with a hard oil finished African Mahogany Back and Sides. The very comfortable and slightly wider neck was carved from an old Sapele church pew. It also features a beautiful hand carved Ebony bridge and Brass tailpiece.
