Banjo Capos come in two different types, this is because the 5-string banjo has an octave 5th string that starts adjacent the fifth fret. You need two capos for a 5-string banjo. One capo is the type to 'capo' the first four strings at specific fret positions ...Shubb, Kyser and Paige are popular with many banjoists. The second capo is what is called a 'fifth string' capo. There are different types of fifth string capos. The popular Shubb is fixed to the side of the banjo neck with tiny screws. The 'Eagle Claw' capo has spring-wire arms that clip around the fifth string tuner then clamp down on the fifth string. 'Earl's Suspender Capo' straps around the back of the neck and clips around the edge of the fingerboard, Railroad 'Spikes' are fitted to the banjo fingerboard at specific fret positions (the fifth string then clips under the spike)
