White frosted top - This is the most popular head made for a 5-string banjo. It is crisp, bright with good snap, not too much sustain, good clarity and note distinction.
White smooth top - This head is very popular with tenor and plectrum banjoists because the smooth outer surface is quieter when strumming. The head has good bass response and sustains more.
Renaissance - Renaissance banjo heads are a favorite of old time / clawhammer banjoists. A renaissance banjo head features a smooth top and opaque antique white color. This type of head is less bright sounding than a top frosted white head but brighter than a fiberskyn head
Fibreskyn - A favorite with old time, claw hammer, and frailing players. It is preferred for its warm, round character. It tends to have a more plunky sound..
