Made in the USA at the Deering shop with the same tooling we use to make the top of the line banjos, the Goodtime banjos are the lowest priced American made banjos.  They are so accurate, many professionals have recorded with Goodtime banjos. The Goodtime 2 banjo is enhanced for more projection of sound by including the back of the banjo, called a resonator, which projects the sound to the audience.. This is the best buy on the market!

The rim is built from solid three ply violin maple. The rim diameter is 279.40mm (11”) and a thickness of 14.28mm (9/16”). The maple rim is fitted with a 1/8" thick Steel Deering tone ring and produces a powerful, bright, clear Deering ‘warm’ sound. 16 bracket hooks are fitted to give even tension on the tension hoop. The tailpiece is a Deering ‘custom’ type that accepts loop-ended string. All metal work is nickel plated to a high standard. A milky 11” diameter ‘Deering’ plastic head is fitted (top side coated) along with an ebony tipped 15.87mm (5/8”) maple bridge. The rim is natural satin finished. Complete with nickel plated Vega style armrest. The resonator is built from maple with a nickel plated flange.

The Patented Goodtime Special Tone Ring designed by Deering produces a powerfully crisp, bright, sparkling tone, a considerable step up in tone from the original tone ring that was featured on our Goodtime Special banjos. The volume of tone is a wonderful surprise to players. If you're looking for a banjo with good volume and tone, and prefer to keep the cost as low as possible, then this is the banjo for you. This banjo will perform well in a jam session or band setting, feel comfortable, fret correctly, and be a stable instrument you can play for years to come.

The neck is attached to the pot assembly with a lag bolt and a coordinating rim rod set, which give you the facility to alter the ‘action’ of the banjo to suit your particular style of playing. The neck is constructed from solid rock maple. The 22-fret fingerboard is inlaid with hardwood 'bow tie' inlays at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th, and 19th frets. The nickel silver fretwork is perfectly positioned, rounded and polished for smooth playing.

The geared 5th string tuner is adjacent the 5th fret. The nut is precisely cut and filed for a comfortable string action at the first position. The 5th string tuning peg has a screw to adjust the torque for positive tuning. The traditional Deering fiddle shaped banjo headstock (peg head) is finished in natural satin maple stained the name Goodtime 'Special’ is engraved on the headstock facing. A set of geared, side-facing banjo tuners are fitted. The tuners are nickel plated to match the hardware of the pot assembly. The neck is natural satin finished, to match the rim.
