Deering Vega Vintage Star 5 String Banjo in Cherry with Hard Case
The new cherry version of the popular Vega Vintage Star features a quartersawn cherry neck and a 3-ply cherry rim. The cherry wood gives the banjo a distinctively classy reddish hue which will darken over time with a gorgeous patina. The beautiful aesthetics isn't the only thing the cherry wood brings to this banjo. It also gives the banjo a bit warmer tone than the standard maple version, while still maintaining plenty of brilliance.

Description
At the heart of the Vintage Star lies a stunning Dobson tone ring. Originally patented by Henry Dobson in 1881, the Dobson balances the low ends with clear highs and adds just the right amount of sustain to the banjo. The brass Dobson glows from behind the renaissance head, which itself sits on a thinner walled, 12” Cherry maple rim. A knotless tailpiece tops off the setup to produce a classic old-time tone.
The Vintage Star features a durable, low maintenance frosty bronze powder finish, that accents the exotic smokey streaks running through the ebony of the fingerboard. The finish also is hypoallergenic, which, along with the matching wooden armrest, makes for a truly comfortable playing experience.
TONE:
A classic old time banjo tone, woody with just the right amount of brightness from the Dobson tone ring. Great for clawhammer or old time 2 finger playing whether you are playing solo or with a string band.
TUNED:
g,D,G,B,D in standard G tuning
Can easily be tuned in other tunings as well.
