It's my first time for an octave mandolin, so difficult to compare with other models. But it feels very well made, nice low action (set up by Eagle Music), it holds the tuning well and it has a built in pickup. If you add the hard case as well, it really is good value. Getting used to playing it at the moment. Fortunately it has the same tuning as my mandolin and Bouzouki so easy to start playing. My fingers are a bit soft after a long layoff so it will be a while before I get the best from it, but already the tone sounds great. Can't wait to get back playing live again in a pub duo.

I am a solo gigging and recording musician playing original songs.
The OM 800+ is to augment my usual mandolin/banjo instrument setup, providing another variation in the backing of my songs.
I would highly recommend this model to anyone looking to buy a quality, well made mandola with a budget that doesn't run to a $1000+
