Greg and Janet Deering began building banjos in a garage at their home in Lemon Grove, California over three decades ago, dedicated to quality and customer service. The Deering Banjo Company is now located in San Diego, California in a large state-of-the-art modern factory where a team of banjo technicians led by Janet & Greg Deering personally carry out hand finishing processes on every individual banjo that they produce. They are now a world class icon building the world's finest American made banjos.
On this special 2010 event DVD, Greg & Janet Deering explain how Deering Banjos are built, also what type of music each specific Deering model is designed for. Tone rings, tone woods and metal hardware are explained by the master banjo builders, and how different banjo building materials affect the tone of each banjo.
Jens Kruger accompanies Greg & Janet on stage, and plays banjo licks on some of the Deering models featured. Jens also plays the introductory music to this DVD on a Deering Goodtime 'Southern Queen' Leader banjo. Greg & Janet Deering have become a legend in their own lifetime, building what many prominent professional banjo players consider the worlds greatest American banjos.
