For each chord quality, several voicings or ways to play the chord are illustrated with easy-to-read fingerboard diagrams. The Essential String Method integrates musical awareness, creativity and technical development from the outset, developing the pupil as a musician as well as an instrumentalist right from the start through an integrated programme of games, activities, songs and pieces. Sheila Nelson's acclaimed teaching approach is a radical advance in the teaching of stringed instruments. Making their way through the series, pupils encounter an attractive selection of new tunes and arrangements on which to build their repertoire. The material is presented as a logical progression of musical activities involving both the instrument and the voice. These make learning fun and are easily incorporatedinto instrumental lessons, simultaneously developing the pupil's technical and musical abilities while reinforcing aspects of the National Curriculum. 4 easy-to-use books for each instrument (violin, viola, cello & double bass) offer a practical solution for today's instrumental teacher.A complete course for individual and group teaching.
HIghland Tunes for the Fiddle. Another great selection of Highland fiddle and pipe tunes both old and new. It contains a wealth of tunes musicians have been looking for and couldn’t find!
This volume was issued ten years after finishing the original four volumes. After finding that I had collected a great many more pipe tunes over the intervening years and, as they were such good tunes, a further book was warranted to make these available to all the fiddlers and others out there looking for more good Highland tunes to play.
These represent some of the best Scottish pipe tunes being played today in Scotland.
